HR professionals are human engineers. They are supposed to be expert in people motivation, fear and engagement. Their policies must be aligned to organization need and goals. Based on specific organization culture or politics, they mould their policies. We are seeing almost all organizations have chosen to benchmark polices of leaves, gender laws, diversity, events, or organization structure or levels.

For an outsider (other than HR professional) like me, many of their decisions look strange.

We all saw Smith and Warner cried in press conference. Crime was violation of ethics. These Australian cricketers had violated their perception to win game by right ethics. It sounds strange the anger among Australia for their act. Not every Australian lives on values and ethics. Is it just Smith and Warner’s responsibility to protect country’s image.

We expect good people to do more good. We punish even the slightest deviation. If a bad man does smallest good, people respect him for it. For example, if a corrupt politician does good act with a poor. We treat him as god.

I had a mix view earlier. Now I am realizing its a big threat. Facebook recent data sharing to political parties and targeted attack in favour about one party or candidate. It is non ethical and condemable act.

It is true that nothing is free in this world. Google, Facebook, or other social media companies wants our FOCUS. Our telephone numbers are being sold. Sales men of telecom , real estate and banking companies have my number as category of > 10 lakh income. They call all the time for loan , sale, or telecom operator swapping.

Justice is becoming illusion in modern society. Laws are outdated. Courts are full cases. Hardly any case get time. Enforcement agencies like Police, tax officials, traffic constables are busy in making money.

Justice and courts are dependent on evidences. Laws of 1800 can’t work now. Lawmakers are too busy in winning elections. In end, a common man is suffering and being forced to compromise. Law is only supporting crime by delaying justice.

Hindi cinema loves love-triangle. Love is complex. It becomes more so, if it is in a triangle. By triangular love story, I mean, one person is being seduce by two lovers at a time. Common sense says that way he /she/object will get two times love/gifts/ or benefits. But effect is opposite. He/she becomes biggest loser in end. Let's take some example.

Common family situation is when a husband gets in between mother and wife. Both loves him. As soon as he comes closer to one, another attracts him. In end, both mother and wife make him football.

Trust is precious. All trust pillars like banks, government, or temples charge huge money for every transaction. It is also manual, isolated and vulnerable to hacking. Let’s take two simple examples – Flat sale between two people needs lease deed documents and whole day of government harassment. Or, take letter of credit (LC), when two banks are involved, just to give comfort to a buyer and seller. Government or bank are trust pillars and changes in these institutions are difficult because of excessive controls.  

No single human can achieve big. We need teams with people of different ideas and skills.

Teams are key of success. A well defined coherent team can achieve big goals. Any organization , big or small, needs  small teams with similar objectives. These teams must be aligned to organization’s bigger role.

Organization should check health of its teams. Rotten teams are full of politics, laziness, excuses, and escalations. Management sits for review regularly and ends up in political leg pulling of co-workers.

Ideal team goes through these four stages.

I was passing through a Parsi temple in south Mumbai. In that temple only Parsi is allowed. That is exclusion. Hindu pandits did same mistake many years ago. Temples were closed to dalits. Later many dalits had converted to Islam or Christianity. Dalits were lower castes or untouchable. They were not allowed to touch precious god or his disciples, the pundits. Basic right of prayer got restricted. That was a blunder.  It misrepresented the fact that Hinduism is about exclusion. But truth is opposite.
