Yesterday I attended one session on story telling. It was mind blowing. I never realised story telling has such profound impact on mind. Being a science lover, I am very big fan of data, number, statistics, and fact. Science loves to see patterns. Although world wants to listen stories which have same pattern. A hero , a villain and a happy ending. Most of the stories have same patterns.
Story tellers have power to paint your mind to new reality. They can change colour of the truth and lies in our perception. They play with our mind. Mind can’t differentiate truth and reality. We cry in theatre on false on realities. Story tellers has huge impact on our reality.
Entertainment is going to big industry. People have lot of time and they need good story tellers. All stories may look same from making of weak to strong, poor to rich and a happy ending i.e same pattern as a science lover will say. Still our mind is addictive to it. We need new stories or new characters, venues, struggles and a new experience in different time and moment. We live in experience, moments and stories. We remember them deep in our mind. We forget other data. If you give people new stories or comparatives to characters, space, gods, or identity, you gain half battle.
Stories with vulnerability are more accepted than strong heroes. If you were weak, poor, or vulnerable and have beaten a big odd, you can be great story. It has something to do with our mind. We need emotions to go over the boundaries around us. Stories give us much needed motivation or imagination. Each story leaves an imprint on our mind. We remember them and share them ahead.
Each story is a hope and triumph over our own struggles. Stories create a success platform which we are all hungry for. So tell the stories, more importantly stories of your own imperfection, failures, and your sudden gain out of them. There is a huge canvas to paint.
